    I have a Spanish-style Simogas plancha deluxe 75 and I'm wondering what is the right and recommended way to clean the hob.

    If anyone has the same brand and good expertise it would be a pleasure...

    How to properly clean your griddle to avoid seasoning (persistent layer of grease)

    You can read a lot of conflicting advice on the internet: using newspaper, coarse salt, vinegar, or even letting your griddle "season." However, seasoning is not a good practice. It actually involves the accumulation of grease, juices, and burnt cooking residue, which over time becomes not only unsightly, but also potentially harmful to your health.
    In a healthy kitchen, no seasoning!

    The right move: hot deicing

    To avoid any build-up, the most effective method remains hot de-icing.
    • Pour ice cubes or cold water onto the still very hot plate (minimum 180°C).
    • Scrape immediately with a metal spatula: the thermal shock will loosen the residue and juices.
    • This operation can be carried out between two cooking sessions in order to start again with a clean surface.

    Caution: Make sure to turn off your plancha before deglazing (unplug the plug for an electric model) and protect yourself from hot vapors.

    Scrape effectively without damaging the plaque

    Always use a suitable cleaning spatula, firmly held flat, using up-and-down and up-and-down movements. Pay particular attention to the most stubborn areas, without unnecessarily scratching the surface.

    If the seasoning persists

    In the most stubborn cases, simple deglazing may not be enough. You can then use a professional grill or oven cleaner:
    • Dilute 1 to 2 parts of product in 8 parts of water.
    • Apply to the plate while it is still slightly warm.
    • Leave to act then scrape off gradually.
    • Rinse thoroughly, ideally three times in a row, to remove any chemical residue.

    The trick to extending the life of your plancha

    Once the plate is clean and dry, apply a thin film of olive oil. This protects the surface until the next use and makes future cleaning easier.

    A plancha that lasts for years

    With regular maintenance and sheltered storage, your plancha will maintain its effectiveness and can even be left outdoors all year round. With proper care, it will last for many years of enjoyable cooking.
