5 million 3DS sold!

That's it! The famous milestone of 5 million units sold has been passed for Nintendo's latest console, the 3DS. But achieving this milestone so quickly has not been as straightforward as expected for the Japanese firm.

Indeed, the console famously had to slash its prices to achieve such a result, selling 5 million units in just 51 weeks (just under a year). Initially sold at the equivalent of 250 euros, the price of the console had to be lowered to 170 for sales to explode!

Personally, it's at times like this that I really realise that these big companies are taking us for a ride (even though I knew it beforehand). In fact, when a manufacturer can afford to reduce its margin by 32 %, it's because they're really lining their pockets! Anyway, let's not go on and on about this, because Nintendo is certainly not the worst company in the world.

I can't close this article without telling you that this sales figure is a record in Nintendo's history! Even the Gameboy Advance, original DS and Wii didn't sell this well (the 5 million mark was passed just after the 52-week mark for the GBA).

As for you, have you fallen for this price cut or have you already bought it before? Or perhaps you won't fall for this console even at a lower price?
