French presidential elections: François Hollande ahead of other candidates

D’après le dernier sondage de l’Institut Viavoice, publié dans « Libération », le candidat à la présidence française, François Hollande, arrive en tête avec un taux de 45%. Il est suivi par François Bayrou, à 31%, et Nicolas Sarkozy, à 30%. Dans une autre étude réalisée celle-là – du 2 au 4 février – Viavoice a sondé les souhaits de l’ensemble des électeurs, puis des classes populaires. Si François Hollande demeure le favori du moment, l’étude révèle une baisse évidente de « l’effet Sarkozy », malgré les efforts médiatiques de l’actuel chef de l’État. On a constaté également que les classes populaires n’étaient pas tentées par un vote Front National.

In this presidential race, François Hollande has gained 4 points since January, thus returning to the score achieved last November. Meanwhile, the MoDem candidate came in second (31%) and scored an increase of 5% compared to the previous month – 11% more than in November 2011.

Nicolas Sarkozy's third place, the French daily adds, can be explained by "disappointments with the head of state's record and personal style." Indeed, several people interviewed in recent polls have noted "his neglect of the promises of 2007," adding that they now consider him more "the president of the rich."

In this ranking, Jean-Luc Mélenchon of the Left Front and Dominique de Villepin of République Solidaire remain far behind. Marine Le Pen of the National Front received 151,000 votes in favor of her election to the presidency, Eva Joly of the Greens, 101,000 votes, and Hervé Morin of the New Centre, 41,000 votes. As for the other candidates, they are not evaluated in this latest poll.
