The Null Stern Hotel

Saviez-vous qu’à Teufen (nord-est du pays), un abri nucléaire donc souterrain avait été aménagé en hôtel économique par deux frères jumeaux artistes, Patrik et Franck Ricklin? Le Null Stern Hotel – premier et unique hôtel Zéro étoile – combinait art conceptuel et chambre d’hôtes. Il pouvait héberger jusqu’à 14 personnes dans un confort forcément minimaliste et, évidemment, sans ouverture sur l’extérieur. En revanche, étaient fournis pantoufles confortables, bouillottes et boules Quiès (contre le bruit de la ventilation). Seule obligation : en cas de réelle alerte nucléaire, les lieux devaient être rendus à leur usage initial dans les plus brefs délais.

Short life

Without giving reasons for this decision, the two brothers proceeded to close this Zero Star during a press conference held on June 3, 2010. The bunker-hotel concept was only in operation for one year; the beds of the Null Stern welcomed guests from 29 countries in its famous Biedermeier beds. It must be said that initially, the Ricklins had stated that they had no commercial goals and considered the Null Stern primarily as an artistic installation.

New vocation

The hotel, now open as a museum, is ready to welcome visitors who wish to discover the birthplace of the world's first Null Stern Hotel. The establishment's slogan: "Where the only star is you."
