ChatGPT and Gemini are gaining ground on Google in Switzerland
The Swiss are changing the way they browse the web. According to a study published by Comparis, 53% of internet userstoday they use tools for’artificial intelligence as ChatGPT, Gemini or their equivalents — twice as much as in 2024.
This rapid adoption is taking place to the detriment of traditional practices :
- THE search engines retain first place, but their use has changed from 87.1% in 2020 to 83.2% in 2025.
- There email also recedes, from 85.1% to 79%.
- THE news sites lose ground, falling from 66.7% to 54.7%.

Declining digital trust
The rise of AI is accompanied by a increased mistrust towards digital technology.
THE feeling of online security fell from 5.7 to 5.3 out of 10 since 2022.
THE French-speaking Swiss are showing the most concern:
- 43,5% believe that data protection is "rather well" managed,
- against 54% in German-speaking Switzerland,
- And nearly 60% in Ticino.

This study highlights a profound transformation of digital practices. AI is no longer just a fad: it is becoming a everyday tool, capable of replace the classic search or messaging services in many cases.
At this rate, artificial intelligence could well become the new gateway to the web for the majority of Swiss people by 2026.
