The History of UBS: 160 years of Swiss banking evolution
Founded in 1912 by the merger of Bank in Winterthur (1862) and Toggenburger Bank (1863), Union Bank of Switzerland went international in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1997, it merged with Swiss Bank Corporation to create UBS AG, becoming the world leader in wealth management. In 2023, UBS makes a fast-track acquisition of Credit Suisse, creating a financial giant worth 1,600 billion dollars.
