The dominant narrative presents global warming as an absolute emergency. But some scientists are calling for more nuance. This is the case with Professor Éric Verrecchia, a geologist and biogeochemist, and professor emeritus at the University of Lausanne.

In his talks, he emphasizes that the Earth has always experienced natural cycles of warming and cooling, and that these geological dynamics are too often overlooked in favor of an interpretation focused on human CO₂ emissions. He also warns against conflicts of interest and the political instrumentalization of climate science.

Whether it's Alpine glaciers, ice floes, or forest fires, Verrecchia urges caution: these phenomena exist, but they should not be systematically interpreted as evidence of imminent catastrophe.

On December 1, 2025, a critical symposium will take place in Switzerland, organized by Planète Positive and the Mouvement Fédératif Romand, with the participation of Professor Verrecchia. The objective: to open the debate and question the way in which the climate is presented to the general public.
