Spotify available in Switzerland and Belgium

While the well-known music streaming site Spotify has already been adopted by many users around the world, it was only this week that the service was made available in Austria (yesterday), Belgium and Switzerland (today). In the end, there were no big surprises, as the Swedish giant had predicted an imminent release several months ago.

As for the services offered, nothing new! Indeed, as in the rest of the world, Swiss and Belgian users will have access to three versions of accounts:

  • Free, where, as the name suggests, everything is free but, as you might expect, limited. With this account, you will be entitled to 10 hours of listening per month and no more than five listens per track. Your window will, of course, be advertized.
  • The Unlimited plan. In this case, there are no limits and no ads, but it costs 4.99 euros (or 6.45 Swiss francs) to pay every month.
  • and finally Premium, which gives you access to offline playback of tracks and use of the service on your smartphones and tablets for 9.99 euros (or 12.95 Swiss francs) a month.

The music streaming war seems to have started in Switzerland (as in Belgium), since Spotify is not the only one to have opened up in these countries. Qobuz has done so in Switzerland and Belgium, and Deezer and Simfy in Belgium.

So that's a very good thing, because the range of products on offer is diversified, which often means lower costs.

Finally, remember that you need a Facebook account to sign up to Spotify.
