Star People: Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger are engaged

Rumors of a marriage between the Pussycat Dolls singer-songwriter and the former Formula 1 world champion have been all the rage lately. This time, they're being taken a little more seriously, as they've just been confirmed by Alfonso Valiente, Nicole Scherzinger's father, who announced to the British newspaper "The Mail" that the lovebirds have officially become engaged. Mr. Valiente met the driver last year when the couple came to his home in Hawaii for a vacation.

Nicole Scherzinger, 33, and Lewis Hamilton, 28, have been a couple since meeting at the 2007 European Music Awards in Munich. Lewis's future father-in-law seems delighted with Nicole's choice. He calls him a "really nice, down-to-earth guy" who is well-liked by his entire family.

Despite some rocky moments during their relationship, the couple is now blissfully happy. The Pussycat Dolls star and co-writer says she's ready for a more stable life and wants to have children. Alongside her career, she currently serves as a judge on the American version of "The X-Factor."
