According to the annual report of the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD), Switzerland has climbed three places since last year and this year earned the top spot in the global innovation rankings. It must be said that this country occupies a strong position in most sectors, both in terms of its favorable environment for innovation and its concrete economic achievements.
At 4e Hong Kong follows, followed by Finland, Denmark, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
For the first time, the Institute presented its annual report in Geneva at the same time as that of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Six European countries ranked at the top of the list, as well as two Asian and two North American countries.
Professor Soumitra Dutta, who led the study at INSEAD, said: "At a time when the global economy is recovering, innovation is crucial to stimulate growth in both developed and emerging countries."
