Some highlights from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival
A major tribute to Belmondo
Early yesterday evening, one of Cannes' most anticipated events took place. A procession of photographers and journalists lined the red carpet to see Jean-Paul Belmondo arrive for the premiere of the documentary "Belmondo, Itinéraire" by Vincent Perrot and Jeff Domenech. A thunderous applause greeted the man affectionately known as "Bébel.".
The entire film elite was present to pay tribute to him: Jean Rochefort, Claude Lelouch, Ricard Anconina, Claudia Cardinale, to name just a few. The actor's son, Paul Belmondo, was also among them.
L’acteur du film The Magnificent, Tanned and radiant for the occasion, he walked the red carpet arm in arm with his stunning wife Barbara Gandolfi, visibly moved by this welcome from his peers.
With her two-tone hair, blonde and brown, a red cape over a gold outfit, and simple leggings as trousers, Lady Gaga literally brought the house down with her new single, "Judas," which had come to the sound of the rock diva of the moment. According to the audience and the media present, this performance was one of the highlights of the 2011 Festival.
The popularity of the film "The Conquest" with the media
The greatest strength of "The Conquest" is undoubtedly its cast. Denis Podalydès, who plays the French president, particularly stands out in the role. He has so perfectly assimilated Nicolas Sarkozy's expressions and voice that you believe you are hearing him speak. The screening of "The Conquest" came one day after Pal Sarkozy, the French leader's father, revealed to the German newspaper "Bild" that his son and his wife, the singer and model Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, were expecting a child.
