Cinema: Composition of the jury for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival

In less than 24 hours, film fans and celebrities will descend upon Cannes for its famous annual film festival. The 64th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 11 to 22, and, as is tradition, the organizers have enlisted international stars to serve on the jury.

We already know that the jury will be made up of very well-known names in cinema. Among others, the American actress Uma Thurman, the British actor Jude Law, the French director Olivier Assayas, the Chadian director Mahamat Saleh Haroun, the Chinese producer and director Johnny To, and the Chinese producer Nansun Shi.

The large selection

Parmi les 54 films qui font partie de la sélection officielle, 20 d’entre eux seront candidats à la prestigieuse Palme d’Or. Parmi ceux-ci nous retrouverons entre autres « The Artist » avec Jean Dujardin, « Drive » et « Le Havre ». Sept candidats recevront les prix du palmarès lors de la soirée de clôture.

Furthermore, this year's audience will have the opportunity to view not only the latest productions but also some classics. For example, works by Stanley Kubrick, Georges Méliès, and Roberto Rossellini.
