On CNN, Matt Damon says he is disappointed with President Obama
Interviewed by journalist Piers Morgan on CNN's new talk show "Piers Morgan Tonight," Matt Damon openly criticized President Barack Obama's policies. The 40-year-old actor, who is very politically active, was actively involved in Obama's 2008 presidential campaign (see video).
After having long supported him ardently, the man who brilliantly plays Jason Bourne, admits that he is not satisfied with the decisions taken by the President in several cases.
Education
Poverty
The comedian also noted that the head of state did not once mention the word "poverty" in his annual State of the Union address on January 25. "Yet millions of people are languishing in poverty," he said. He also expressed disillusionment with the proposed health care reform.
Afghanistan
According to Damon, the mission in Afghanistan "has not been very well articulated. We need to rethink how we are there and why we are there," he said. He said he was very disappointed to see the troop surge in Afghanistan.
Asked if he no longer finds any good qualities in the President, Matt Damon replied that he finds him very brilliant and considers him a great thinker. In short, Matt Damon expected much more. Long gone are the days when celebrities sang along to the former Illinois senator's famous "Yes we can"...
Matt Damon…dans un tout autre état d’esprit
