A hotel for…chickens??
It can never be claimed that the British lack imagination. For example, a hotel aimed at a particular clientele, the chickens (Yes, Yes, you read that right.) opened last autumn in Helston, Cornwall.
What has been dubbed "The Chicken Hotel" is the result of an initiative by David Roberts, a 31-year-old English mathematics teacher, who offers his clients the chance to leave their beloved poultry (and even chicks) in his care while they go on holiday. Fed three times a day with the finest grains and comfortably housed in custom-designed facilities, the chickens thoroughly enjoy this establishment dedicated exclusively to them.
During the holiday season, The Chicken Hotel was fully booked and has already started taking reservations for the upcoming February and Easter holidays. It must be said that the rates are very reasonable: 3 francs per day for the chicken coop, which can hold 8 hens, plus 1.10 francs for each bird.
There are already specialized daycares for cats, dogs, and horses in several countries that are not far removed from Mr. Roberts' hotel concept. I'm thinking, for example, of the Balto Hotel in Vaudreuil-Dorion, near Montreal (Quebec, Canada), an establishment that houses dogs and cats in the utmost luxury. Each animal has a small room with a cozy bed. In addition, nature walks, massages, pedicures, and other pampering treatments are among the services offered. If you wish, a chauffeur-driven limousine will pick up and drop off your furry friend.
Is this what they call "a dog's life"?
