Some examples of unusual sports around the world
Ah, Finnish creativity!
Finland has a record of some of the most imaginative unusual sports. For example, the Wife Carry, during a 250-meter obstacle course; the championship of running with a partner tied to you upside down…; the world championship of sauna endurance (where the record stands at 16 minutes at over 110 degrees!); the championships of football in the marshes and on powder snow (so you can participate in all seasons); and even, hold on to your hats, the championship of playing imaginary guitar (probably won by teenagers).
Turkish Underwater Hockey
In Turkey, this sport is very similar in rules to ice or field hockey, and it is becoming increasingly popular. It is unusual in that this type of sport is played at the bottom of a large swimming pool. The players are currently training for the upcoming world championships in this discipline.
Canadian Curling
Irish Hurling
This is Ireland's oldest sport, dating back over 4,000 years. Similar to field hockey, this sport is played 15 against 15 and requires speed and power. In fact, a ball can exceed 100 km/h! Considered the fastest team sport in the world, hurling also has a version adapted for women called camogie.
