Weekend in a White Pod

Snow sports enthusiasts and downhill skiers in unspoiled nature, this special experience is for you. The Whitepod area—a true ecotourism concept—is a sort of high-tech refuge, perched at an altitude of 1,700 m in the Valais Alps, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains. The 15 comfortable individual shell-shaped dwellings were designed with highly insulating materials; however, there is no electricity in these facilities, only oil lamps and wood stoves. The more cozy among you will be pleased to learn that a member of staff keeps the wood stove burning until 9 p.m. to keep the pods at a pleasant temperature.

Ski-Spa-Lounge Bar

Nearby, you'll find ski slopes with private ski lifts, the Alpage de Chindonne, the Whitepods camp (15 pods and its central chalet), and the Chalet des Cerniers. At the center of the camp (in the large central chalet) awaits a spa offering a range of treatments and massages for relaxation. It's also the place for breakfast or a drink at the end of the day at the "Lounge Bar." Don't bother looking for the waiter; access is free. Just write down your drinks in a notebook and pay on the day of departure.

Price: from €234 for 2 people per night
