Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi released

The Iranian filmmaker, who was arrested on 1 March, went on hunger strike on 16 May to protest against his detention. He was due to sit on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival. Jaffar was imprisoned for political reasons, and the international outcry against his detention was amplified during the festival.
