Switzerland: The new passport of 2010

A new passport has been available in Switzerland since March 1, 2010. It has a microchip on which the fingerprints and a facial image, which strengthens the security of the identity document and makes it more difficult to misuse. The new passport can be ordered using a online form, or from the passport office in the canton of residence, by telephone or, in certain cantons, by appearing in person. The 2010 passport costs 140 francs for adults and 60 francs for young people under 18, ou respectivement 148 francs et 68 francs pour une offre combinée passeport et carte d’identité (sans les frais de port). A noter que les modèles de passeport 2003 et 2006 ne peuvent plus être commandés mais restent cependant valables jusqu’à leur date d’échéance.
