First Franco-Swiss catering fair in Geneva

BocuseOn June 7 and 8, Twenty chefs from all over Europe will compete to win the title of Bocuse d'Or Europe.

It is at Palexpo, in Geneva, that more than 20,000 professional visitors who will have the opportunity to meet 130 exhibitors gathered on 10,000 m² of exhibition space as part of the first Franco-Swiss restaurant and hotel trade fair, Gourmet. At the end of the competition chaired by Philippe Rochat (three-star chef), the twelve European countries that will participate in the final of the Bocuse d'Or 2011 in Lyon (69) will be known.

The twenty candidates registered for the Bocuse d'Or Europe :

• Belgium – Jeff Beyens, Restaurant Vivendum in DILSEN-STOKKEM
• Malta – Kevin Bonello, The Xara Palace Hotel in MDINA
• Croatia – Nikolina Loncar, Restaurant Zlatan in KOPRIVNICKI IVANEC
• Norway – Gunnar Hvarnes, Restaurant Hos Ingrid in STAVANGER
• Denmark – Rasmus Kofoed, Restaurant Egegade in KOVENHAVN
• Netherlands – Marco Poldervaart, Gastronom Restaurant at ZEIST
• Spain- Juan Andrés Rodriguez, Restaurant El Claustro in GRANADA
• Great Britain – Simon Hulstone, The Elephant Restaurant in Torquay
• Estonia – Dmitri Rooz, Korsaar Restaurant in Tallinn
• Russia – Roman Suvorov, Korkunov Culinary School in KOROLEV
• Finland – Matti Jämsen, Brandenburger Hof Restaurant in Berlin
• Slovakia – Martin Korbelic, Camouflage Restaurant in BRATISLAVA
• France – Jérôme Jaëglé, Têtedoie Restaurant in Lyon
• Sweden – Tommy Myllymäki, Småländska Kolonin restaurant in GOTEBORG
• Hungary – Kostyál Gábor, Hotel Helikon Keszthely in KESZTHELY
• Switzerland – Franck Giovannini, Restaurant Hôtel de Ville in CRISSIER

These contestants will have 5 hours and 35 minutes to prepare a meat dish: Swiss veal, and a fish dish: Sterling halibut. I imagine you would have loved to taste these dishes… in any case, I only have one thing to say: May the best one win!
