Simon Ammann flies to a world championship title
Simon Ammann had a more than satisfactory 2009-2010 season! He won two Olympic gold medals, the world No. 1 globe, and on Saturday in Planica, Slovenia, the title of world ski flying champion.
While his best result in the competition was a 5th place in 2002, the 28-year-old Swiss won with a total of 935.8 points, ahead of the Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer (910.3 pts) and the Norwegian Anders Jacobsen (894 pts).
With a final jump to 236.5 m (the best of the weekend), the Toggenburg glider far outperformed its competitors with more than 25 points ahead of the title holder, which represents a chasm at this level!
He even narrowly missed the world record of 239 m.
