THE rich countries, bien que représentant moins de 16% de la main d’oeuvre mondiale, participent pour plus de 40% on the rise in unemployment since 2007The unemployment rate rose from 5.7% in 2007, then to 6% in 2008 and finally to 8.4% in 2009.
Young people are paying a heavy price for the crisis with an unemployment rate of 13.4% in 2009. There were 83 million young people without jobs in 2009 compared to 74 million in 2008 and 72.5 million in 2007. This represents the largest increase since 1991.
THE Unemployment rates expected to continue rising in 2010 in rich countries ( jusqu’à 8.9%) et stagnate or even decline in poor countries.
Le rapport reconnait que les plans de sauvetage mis en place par les gouvernements ont permis d’amortir l’impact de la crise .
