Tim Burton to chair Cannes Film Festival jury
«"After spending my younger years watching triple features and doing 48-hour horror movie marathons, I feel ready for Cannes."» said Tim Burton. This American director will chair the jury of the next Cannes Film Festival, from May 12 to 23, succeeding French actress Isabelle Huppert. The 8 members of the jury will be announced in mid-April.
A filmmaker of the 80s, known for films such as "Beetlejuice" and "Batman", the director has recently turned to children's literature films with his magnificent film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and we eagerly await his latest 3D film "Alice in Wonderland".
Cannes Film Festival President Gilles Jacob described Tim Burton as a «"A filmmaker with a heart of gold and hands of silver"» and one «"A magician with a visual frenzy whose screen becomes a magical spectacle"».
«"When you think of Cannes, you think of world cinema. And since I've always experienced films as dreams, I'm going to live a dream come true."», said the filmmaker in a statement published by the Festival.
This 63rd edition will therefore be a very emotional moment for a talented filmmaker!
