“Oceans,” the environmental event film

«Oceans» is a documentary produced by Disney and directed by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud. After travelling with birds in «Le peuple migrateur», released in 2001, the directors invite us to swim with dolphins and many other species by plunging us into the heart of the ocean.

«Oceans» required no less than 3 years of preparation and 4 years of filming in over 50 locations around the world. This documentary deals with the biodiversity of the oceans and the importance of preserving species and their marine ecosystems. With just 9 minutes of commentary, the images speak for themselves. «We're making a film for the cinema, not a documentary for television, so our demands on the quality of the images are high.»
The most modern techniques were used to make this film, most of which was shot in High Definition. Sophisticated equipment was even designed as the film progressed, including the use of a miniature helicopter for surface shots. This film projects breathtakingly emotional images of marine animals filmed on a daily basis in a way that no filmmaker has done before.

According to Jacques Perrin, «Oceans is not a documentary but a wild opera», and according to Jacques Cluzaud it is ’a fantastic and magical tale«. For the full story, see it in cinemas on 27 January.
