Sydney: A Frenchman in the final

Quarter-finalist in Brisbane against Andy Roddick, Richard Gasquet reached a new level in Sydney where he reached the semi-finals of the tournament. He will face Julien Benneteau; we will therefore witness a very good match which will also ensure a place in the final for one of the two French players.

C’est la troisième demi-finale du tournoi de Sydney que Richard Gasquet disputera, les précédentes étant en 2007 contre Carlos Moya puis en 2009 contre David Nalbandian. Il ne reste plus qu’à voir si le dicton « Jamais deux sans trois » s’avère exact. On ne l’espère pas pour Richard qui rêve cette fois d’atteindre la finale.
His compatriot Julien Benneteau will obviously not let this happen and intends to go all the way in Sydney. This would be a first in his career, marked by three lost finals.
