Val d'Izère: Loïc Meillard leads the first run
Loïc Meillard is in the lead at the end of the first run of the Val d'Isère slalom. Twenty-four hours after his success in the giant slalom, the Valaisan set the fastest time on the first run ahead of Norwegians Timon Haugan (0″05) and Atle Lie McGrath (0″14). The second best Swiss, Daniel Yule, was 15th. Watch the 2nd run from 12:50 pm on RTS 2.
Loïc Meillard is now well on track for the season Olympique.
The skier from Hérémence, on the back of his first win of the winter the day before, produced a solid run, particularly in the first half of the course. Third in last year's slalom on this slope, the Neuchâtel native took advantage of a slope that was still unmarked before the sun appeared on the course.
Disappointment for Tanguy Nef
Tanguy Nef was eliminated. The Genevan straddled his bike a few gates from the finish, and put his dreams of a first World Cup podium on hold.
The last Swiss to start in the top 30, Daniel Yule conceded 1»78 to his team-mate on a degraded track.
Finally, Ramon Zenhäusern, bib 32, also qualified for the second run with the 20th time (+2″04), as did Matthias Iten, who achieved a fine result by finishing 30th (at 2»58) with his bib 61.
