Daniel Yule: New brand, same ambition
At 32 years old, Daniel Yule, the best Swiss slalom skier in history with seven World Cup victories, approaches this Olympic season with a clear objective: back on the podium. The Valais native has not tasted the top 3 since his success in Chamonix in February 2024 and has had disappointing rankings (6th, 7th and 9th) last winter.
To revive his career, Yule made a major decision: changing ski brands after 19 years of loyalty. A turning point that he fully embraces:
«"Last season didn't live up to my expectations. If I want to continue fighting at the front, this was the right time for a fresh start."»
He knows he is beginning the’autumn of his career, but refuses to harbor any regrets:
«"I don't want to wonder, in four years, what would have happened if I had changed. My first impressions are very positive, even if only the race will decide."»
This change is also accompanied by a human reorganization. After 11 years with her personal assistant Nicolas Macron, Yule must rebuild new routines:
«"With him, everything was instinctive. Now, we have to relearn, recreate those automatic responses."»
In this special season, marked by the Olympic objective, the Valais native is keeping a cool head:
«"I want to be at the start of every race with the feeling that I can aim for victory or a podium finish. Last year, sometimes I knew that wouldn't be possible. It was frustrating."»
Determined, equipped differently, but with the same ambition, Daniel Yule hopes that this major change will be the trigger for a return to the forefront.
