🇨🇭 2026 World Cup – The squad for the last 2 matches
The Swiss national team is one step away from victory! Murat Yakin has unveiled a list of 25 players for the final two crucial qualifying matches. 2026 World Cup. Objective: to secure the ticket to the United States, Mexico and Canada on November 15 against Sweden, before a final trip to Kosovo on November 18.
🔴⚪ Aebischer and Fassnacht are back!
The Swiss coach signs a list without major surprises, but with two welcome returns: Michel Aebischer (Pisa) and Christian Fassnacht (Young Boys).
Fassnacht, a true game-changer for Bern's wings (6 goals and 3 assists this season in the Super League), returns to the national jersey which he had not worn since March 2023.
Aebischer, meanwhile, returns after an adductor injury that sidelined him from the October international break. His impact in midfield will be invaluable in helping the Swiss national team through this final stretch.
💪 A united group despite the absences
Murat Yakin was keen to acknowledge the depth of his squad despite some setbacks:
«"It's a shame Remo (Freuler) had to withdraw, but our pool of drivers is sufficient to compensate for his absence."»
The coach specifically mentions Djibril Sow, Michel Aebischer and Vincent Sierro to take over the midfield role.
However, there is no return for Ardon Jashari, who is still in the recovery phase, nor for Noah Okafor, who has been dropped from the attack in favor of a stable and complementary group.
