Geneva Servette corrects the leader Davos

After an impressive 6-0 victory against Biel on Saturday, Genève-Servette raised the bar even higher in the 20th round of the National League, thrashing Davos 7-0 at Les Vernets. The Grisons, previously undefeated in regulation time, suffered their first loss of the season.

The people of Geneva are putting things back in order after the heavy defeats from the start of the season which cost the coach his job.

The most striking fact of the evening was that Davos was no longer untouchable. Josh Holden's team, which had only lost once this season — on September 30 in Rapperswil (4-3 in a shootout) — had been on a nine-game winning streak before stumbling heavily in Geneva.

From the opening minutes, the Eagles took flight. Le Coultre (2:45), Verboon (2:59), and Puljujärvi (17th, 19th) quickly sealed the match, making it 4-0 at the first break. In the second half, Bozon (21st) continued the offensive onslaught, before Manninen (54th) and Granlund (60th) completed the rout.

Genève-Servette, often inconsistent since the start of the championship, here signs a resounding victory against the leader and proves that it can compete with the best teams in the country.

The Zurich Lions also made their mark, crushing Rapperswil-Jona 7-0. The Lakers, who are going through a rough patch with four consecutive losses, nevertheless maintain their 2nd place, 13 points behind Davos.

The Ticino derby went Lugano's way, with a 5-2 victory on the ice in Ambri-Piotta. The Bianconeri made the difference in the final period thanks to goals from Sekac (54th, 59th) and Thürkauf (55th), securing their sixth win in seven games.
