🔥 Marco Odermatt kicks off the season like a boss in Sölden!

In Sölden, Marco Odermatt made his mark again! The Nidwalden native won the opening giant slalom of the World Cup for the 3rd time after 2021 and 2022. An XXL introduction which shows that he is returning with a single objective: sweep everything this season. 💥

With a great time of 1:56.03, “Odi” beats the Austrian Marco Schwarz by 0''24 and the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath of 0''27. Suffice to say that the triple winner of the big globe reminds everyone that he is the king of the giant. 👑⛷️

A resounding revenge 🌟

Last year, Sölden played a trick on him by going off the track in the first round. This time, he didn't let no chance to the competition:

• 1st after the 1st round for only 0.01 seconds
• A 2nd round mastered despite the snow and a delayed departure
• Crazy speed right to the end, even on the famous final dish where so many others have stalled

Result :
👉 46th World Cup victory, of which 27 in giant.
And above all, a clear message sent to the entire circuit: the boss is back 💪🇨🇭

Teammates in trouble 😬

Unfortunately, the celebrations were not complete on the Swiss side.

• Loïc Meillard (Hérémence) ends 14th, too cautious in the 1st round and without success in the 2nd.
• Thomas Tumler retrograde in 16th after a big mistake which cut off all his momentum on the second track.
• Luca Aerni, well started (7th to start), finished 30th after a round to forget.

But today it's good Odi which illuminates the Rettenbach glacier 🤩 ❄️
