Tour de France: Roads blocked in French-speaking cantons

There 15th stage of the Tour de France 2009 will cross French-speaking Switzerland and end in Verbier.

Disruption of road traffic

The roads in the cantons of Vaud (116km), Fribourg and Valais, which will see the Tour caravan pass through, will be completely closed a few hours before the cyclists pass.

Les routes seront complétement fermées quelques heures avant le passage de la course. Il n’y aura aucune discussion possible, des centaines de policiers seront déployés pour faire appliqué cette consigne sécuritaire.

The road will therefore be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. between the French-Vaud border and the canton of Fribourg; from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Fribourg; from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the ascent and descent of the Col des Mosses towards Aigle; from 1:00 p.m. in the Rhône Valley and for the ascent to Verbier.

Pour assisté à l’ascension finale à Verbier, il faudra passé par Martigny avant midi…

Safety instructions

• Keep a close eye on your children. Do not let them cross or go into the road. Never leave them alone.
• Prenez garde à vos effets personnels (porte-monnaie, appareil de photo, etc.) en les disposant de manière à en avoir toujours le contrôle. Les pickpockets sont souvent à l’œuvre dans les endroits où la foule est amassée.
• Do not park at the end of a bend, without visibility, or on the descents of passes.
• Beware of the passing advertising caravan. Stay on the side of the road and do not rush over objects that have fallen on the road.
• Si vous avez un chien, tenez-le impérativement en laisse… et n’oubliez pas de lui donner régulièrement à boire.
• Attention lorsque vous filmez ou prenez des photos. N’oubliez pas que les distances sont modifiées par l’objectif.
• N’allez jamais au devant des coureurs. Ne courez pas à leurs côtés, même pour les encourager.
• Beware of the heat! Bring drinks (non-alcoholic), hats, and sunscreen. Never let a child rest in a car in direct sunlight.
