Théo Rochette superb player and top scorer

Ice Hockey – National League

Lausanne HC lost 5-3 on Sunday on the Vernets ice despite a hat trick from their star striker Théo Rochette. A spectacular Lake Geneva derby, but frustrating for the Vaudois. Geneva Servette got their revenge on the buttocks 20 days ago and the 11:0 sudden in Lausanne.

Rochette, individual brilliance in the Lausanne storm

Lausanne HC's star, Théo Rochette, has once again confirmed his immense talent.

Author of the three goals for Vaud against Genève-Servette, number 90 shone with his creativity and efficiency:

  • a first goal scored from the slot (18th),
  • a second obtained through perseverance (25th),
  • a third by diving at the far post (30th).

A hat-trick full of panache, but not enough to reverse the trend of a match dominated by the Geneva rivals.

Video summary of the match

"It's frustrating," admits T. Rochette.

Coming out of the locker room, the player did not hide his disappointment:

"It's frustrating. It's our fourth defeat in a row, not counting the Champions League defeat. We have to find out what details are working against us and react quickly, because things are not going well anymore..."

This poor run is unprecedented since the arrival of coach Geoff Ward in November 2022. But amid collective doubt, Rochette continues to move forward, now joint top scorer in the championship with ten goals, tied with Bienne's Lias Andersson.

A rising leader

At 23, Théo Rochette fully assumes his role as manager:

"I'm trying to take on my role as best I can. I'm lucky to be surrounded by good people and, compared to last season, I have a little more responsibility."

A former captain of the Quebec Remparts, the naturalized Swiss Canadian has already accumulated 107 points (55 goals) in 150 National League matches. His contract extension until 2031, signed in September, confirms the cornerstone status he now occupies at the LHC.

"I wasn't stressed about my situation, but it's definitely nice to have everything sorted out before the season," he says.

Towards a place in the Swiss team?

With 16 points from 15 matches, Lausanne HC has one of the league's most in-form players. This should attract the attention of coach Patrick Fischer, with the 2026 Winter Olympics and the World Cup on home soil looming.

"Maybe I score points, but I don't think about it too much," Rochette confides. "I live in the moment and take one game at a time."

An exemplary mentality that makes him one of the most promising faces of Swiss hockey.

And if the derby turned to Geneva's advantage, Rochette, for his part, proved once again that he already belongs in the big league.
