🇩🇿 Algeria's Fennecs Vladimir Petkovic qualified for the 2026 World Cup

Vladimir Petkovic's Algeria secured their place at the 2026 World Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Somalia in Oran. Led by a brace from Mohamed Amoura and a goal from captain Riyad Mahrez, the Fennecs finished top of their group and earned their fifth appearance at a World Cup finals tournament.

🦊 A well-deserved ticket to America

Under the guidance of Vladimir Petkovic, former coach of Switzerland, the Algerian team confirmed its return to prominence. Dominating from start to finish, they gave Somalia no chance in this penultimate match of the African qualifiers.

Thanks to this success, the Fennecs now have a 4-point lead over Uganda, second in Group G, and cannot be caught before the last match.

🌍 A historic fifth participation

Having already participated in the 1982, 1986, 2010 and 2014 editions, Algeria is preparing to return to the most prestigious international competition. It thus joins the list of 20 nations already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

With a solid squad and a new dynamic instilled by Petkovic, the Fennecs are establishing themselves as one of the most promising African representatives at the next World Cup.

The former coach of the National could cross paths with Switzerland again during the final phase of the 2026 World Cup next summer!
