💶 New Swiss banknotes: six finalists selected by the SNB for the final phase of the competition

There Swiss National Bank (SNB) has reached a new milestone in its design competition for the future series of banknotes. Six finalists have been selected for the final phase of the process: the authors of the concepts B, G, H, J, K and L.

The choice was made on the basis of a national survey conducted among the population, combined with the evaluation of a jury of external experts specialized in design, visual art and monetary security.

📊 Record participation in the national survey

Between the August 13 and September 7, 2025, more than 100,000 people took part in the public consultation organized by the BNS.
The institution expressed its gratitude to the Swiss population for this exceptional participation and the wealth of feedback received. This strong involvement demonstrates the interest that citizens have in the visual and cultural identity of the Swiss franc, a symbol of stability and trust.

🖋️ Final phase of the competition and schedule

The final phase of the competition will now focus on the possibilities of collaboration with the pre-selected creators as well as on commercial aspects of the project.
THE name of the winner will be communicated in the first quarter of 2026, according to the schedule announced by the BNS.
The chosen person will be responsible for develop the final design of the new series, which could differ significantly models presented during the first stages of the competition.

🏦 Final decision and release

In accordance with the Organizational Regulations of the BNS, it is the Bank Council who will make the final decision regarding the official graphics of the next Swiss banknotes.
If the schedule is respected, the new series of cuts could be put into circulation in the early 2030s, thus marking a new aesthetic and technological era for Swiss currency.
