iPhone 17 Pro: The New King of Mobile Photography and Video?
Apple has struck again with its iPhone 17 Pro. Designed for content creators, travelers, and anyone who wants to film or photograph without compromise, it pushes the boundaries of mobile photography. Here's what really sets it apart, and how it compares to its most serious rivals, including Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra.
1. Three 48 MP sensors and a more natural optical zoom
The iPhone 17 Pro is the brand's first model to offer 48 megapixels across all three rear sensors: wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto. This allows for impressive detail to be preserved regardless of the distance.
The 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 100mm) offers a more balanced and realistic image than extreme zooms. In this respect, Apple prioritizes image quality over zoom quantity, unlike the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the upcoming S25 Ultra, which are capable of reaching 5x or 10x but often at the expense of sharpness or colorimetry.
2. Amazing low-light performance
Thanks to the new Photonic Engine, low-light images are cleaner, with natural colors and better grain control. The main sensor combines multiple exposures in real time to realistically reproduce ambient light.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra remain very powerful in this area, especially for nightscapes, but Apple maintains the advantage in terms of consistency between the three lenses: no difference in hue or exposure, which results in harmonious galleries.
3. A monster for video
The iPhone 17 Pro records in 4K Dolby Vision at up to 120 frames per second. Creators can also shoot in ProRes, ProRes RAW, or Apple Log 2—three formats reserved for professional cameras.
The Samsung S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra also shoot in 8K, but these files are often larger and less flexible to edit. Apple is focusing on cinematic colorimetry and ultra-smooth image stabilization, ideal for vlogging, music videos, or travel films.

Dual Capture mode even allows you to film simultaneously with the front and rear cameras, a major advantage for content creators.
4. Finish, ergonomics and thermal stability
Apple has reworked heat dissipation with a vapor chamber, preventing overheating during long video sessions. The screen receives an effective anti-glare treatment, very useful in direct sunlight.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra maintains a slight battery advantage thanks to its higher capacity, but the iPhone 17 Pro charges faster and maintains more consistent performance, with no dips in brightness or lag after several minutes of recording.
5. The most consistent photo experience on the market
Where the iPhone 17 Pro really stands out is its ease of use: open the camera, frame, and get a usable image straight away. Skin tones are accurate, transitions between sensors are smooth, and stabilization makes using a gimbal almost unnecessary.
Samsung models appeal to those who like to manually adjust every parameter or zoom remotely, but for creative, fast, and professional use, the iPhone 17 Pro remains the most balanced.
6. Quick comparison
| Criteria | iPhone 17 Pro | Galaxy S24 Ultra / S25 Ultra | Other iPhones (16 Pro, 15 Pro) |
| Sensors | 3× 48 MP | 200 MP + 10× zoom on some models | 48 MP main only |
| Video | 4K 120fps Dolby Vision, ProRes RAW | 8K 30 fps, HDR 10+ | 4K 60 fps |
| Zoom | 4x sharp and constant optics | 5× or 10× but less homogeneous | 3× or 5× depending on model |
| Stabilization | Exceptional, fluid and natural | Very good but sometimes artificial | Good |
| Autonomy | Excellent, fast charging | Slightly higher | Less optimized |
| Ergonomics | Smooth interface, instant transitions | More massive device | More compact but less powerful |
The iPhone 17 Pro isn't just a premium smartphone—it's a true creative tool. It surpasses its predecessors in almost every way and rivals the best Android models without compromising on power, simplicity, and natural rendering.
For photo, video and social media enthusiasts, this is the most comprehensive model available: powerful, fluid, precise and inspiring.
Samsung remains a great choice for those who love zoom and customization, but for consistency and overall quality, the iPhone 17 Pro stands out as the benchmark.
THE Tesla Pi Phone will it be better?
