To use this service, passengers must download the SBB FreeSurf app, register once, activate Bluetooth, and connect to the train's Wi-Fi network. It's important to note that access is free only for subscribers of certain Swiss operators such as Sunrise, Swisscom, Salt, Quickline And Galaxus MobileForeign travelers can also benefit from this service by purchasing a SIM or eSIM card from one of these operators.

Major Swiss cities, such as Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne And Basel, offer free Wi-Fi access in various public places. For example, the City of Geneva offers the network ((o)) city-geneva, accessible at more than 78 locations across the city. To connect, users must select the network, register via a code received by SMS, and enjoy a free connection. 

Additionally, many cafes, restaurants, hotels, and public spaces such as libraries also offer free Wi-Fi access. However, it is often necessary to register or provide a phone number to access these networks.
