2010 World Cup in South Africa

2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa

The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa will begin in one year and five days, from June 11 to July 11, 2010. The host cities will be: Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Mangaung/Bloemfontein, Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Rustenburg and Tshwane/Pretoria.

The qualifying phase is in full swing in Europe, with several countries already able to secure their place in the finals this weekend. Among them are the Netherlands (Group 9), who would guarantee their spot in South Africa by beating Iceland tonight. England will take a significant step towards qualification by beating Kazakhstan tonight and Andorra on Wednesday, consolidating their position as leaders of Group 6.

Spain also seems untouchable in its group 5 with a flawless run so far.

L'Swiss team Switzerland is competing in Group 2 and is battling for qualification with Greece and Israel. Currently top of the group with the same number of points as Greece, the Swiss national team holds its destiny in its own hands. The next matches are a friendly against Italy in August, followed by the final qualifying matches in September and October, including the crucial group final against Greece.
