Message from Raiffeisen Bank to its Neuchâtel customers
Raiffeisen Bank warns its clients about scams…
Here is a type of message from Raiffeisen Bank to customers in Val-de-Ruz.
The economy of the canton of Neuchâtel The situation is already tense enough without taxpayers losing even more money to scams. This warning, of course, applies to all customers of... Swiss banks.
Dear customer,
We are currently seeing a sharp increase in attempted phone scams. Fraudsters are using techniques to change the number displayed on your device, in order to impersonate a trusted contact (for example, the police or a bank advisor).
This method, known as "spoofing," aims to extract sensitive information from you or trick you into making a payment. Scammers invent convincing scenarios, such as a supposedly misdirected transfer, to obtain your bank details or induce you to transfer money.
How can you protect yourself?
Always remain vigilant: the displayed number may be spoofed. Never give out your personal information (bank details, passwords, security codes), even if the caller claims to be verifying your identity. If in doubt, say you will call back later. Do not click "call back" but dial the institution's official number yourself (e.g., Raiffeisen Bank's). If the caller persists or pressures you, hang up immediately: your safety comes before politeness. If you suspect anything, contact the police at 117.
We thank you for your vigilance and remain at your disposal for any questions.
