Health Insurance: Changes – Questionnaire for a Study

Mandatory health insurance, questionnaire for a study project at the University of Lausanne.

In Switzerland, every citizen is required to take out basic health insurance, which covers almost all the costs of certain medical services defined by law. In addition, to benefit from better coverage, citizens have the option of taking out supplementary insurance that covers other services.
For years, mandatory health insurance in Switzerland has been a source of discontent among Swiss citizens. There are several reasons for this discontent, some well-founded and some less so, such as the steep annual increase in premiums or the supposed lack of real competition among health insurance companies.
Discontent already led to a referendum in 2007 aimed at changing the Swiss healthcare system and establishing a single, state-run health insurance fund. This referendum was widely rejected by the population, but dissatisfaction remains. For this reason, another referendum is currently being prepared, again to call for changes to the Swiss healthcare system.
I am a student in Lausanne and I am currently writing my master's thesis. Given the current situation, I decided to focus my research on studying citizens' perceptions of compulsory health insurance (complementary insurance is not taken into account). In addition, this thesis aims to understand the characteristics that citizens consider more or less essential for having satisfactory health insurance.
The research is based on an anonymous questionnaire available in French and English which will take less than 10 minutes to complete.
All personal information will be treated confidentially in accordance with data protection legislation.
