Apple presents the iPhone 5
It's now official! After weeks (even months) of rumors, Apple has finally unveiled its new smartphone: the iPhone 5!
This year, many rumors circulated online. Even though nothing was certain, a lot was already known about the future iPhone. Moreover, during its presentation Wednesday evening at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, it turned out that the rumors were correct on all points.
In the end, we end up with the same design (three-part back, larger screen, …) seen in the various photos and videos, the same technical specifications (processor, 4G LTE, 9-pin connector, …) as well as the new earphones.
The iPhone 5 is therefore an improvement on the iPhone 4S, not a revolution. Indeed, the screen size increases from 3.5 to 4 inches, the processor from A5 to A6, the camera is better (though not in terms of megapixels), and the connector is modified.
In terms of design, the iPhone 5 is made of glass and metal (back cover). It is much thinner (18 %) than the 4S, measuring only 7.6 mm. The device is also lighter (weighing only 112 grams compared to 140 for the 4S).
With the imminent release of the iPhone 5 (pre-orders will begin as early as September 21st in some countries, with deliveries scheduled for the 28th), the entire iPhone lineup is changing. The good old 3GS is being retired, making way for the 4 to take over as the "entry-level" smartphone. It is sold only in an 8GB version, while the 4S is sold exclusively in a 16GB version. The 5, on the other hand, is available in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB capacities and two colors (white or black).

Of course, as with every iPhone release, numerous debates rage online. Is it a revolution? Has Apple become just another company? Are Android phones better? Everyone has their own opinion on this (as with all debates, really).
Also, keep in mind that if you don't have the budget for an iPhone 5, you can always look for classified ads from Apple enthusiasts who are reselling their 4S at a good price so you can buy the new phone from the Cupertino company. The 4S is still a good phone and has all the iOS 6 updates.
So, will you rush to buy the new iPhone model as soon as it's released, or will this lack of innovation make you pass it by?
