iPad mini rumors are back!

Since the release of the new iPad (the one with the Retina display), the idea of a possible iPad mini had disappeared. We had to assume that it would only be for a while. And that's certainly been the case over the past few days, with increasingly insistent rumours resurfacing.

And this is partly thanks to the Nexus 7 from Google and Asus. Indeed, by launching this tablet, Google is hardly competing with Apple and its iPad. Hence the idea that Google has anticipated and that a 7-inch tablet is in Apple's plans. Especially when you consider that the Nexus 7 was developed in just a few months!

Analysts have recently been looking into this rumour, with which we have become familiar over the years. In their view, the idea of an iPad mini is very possible. They say that since the death of Steve Jobs (in October 2011), the tablet market has evolved significantly. And we can see this with Amazon's Kindle Fire, which is selling like hotcakes in the US. While Steve Jobs was totally against the idea of a tablet smaller than the current iPad, Tim Cook may not be of the same opinion.

By launching a tablet of this size, Apple would leave no room for competitors. What's more, an iPad mini would be cheaper than the current iPad, which could boost sales (some people aren't prepared to spend €500 on a tablet, including me, for example). A price tag of around €250 - €300 could therefore broaden the customer base.

According to these analysts, this smaller iPad will be launched in October (at the same time as the iPhone 5?).

Personally, I find the iPad a bit big. I'd prefer a smaller tablet that fits in a jacket pocket, something you can take everywhere. On the other hand, in that case, a smartphone is less useful. For me, the current iPad is a kind of replacement for the MacBook Air for those who just surf, watch films and play a few apps.

And for you, what would be the ideal size for your iPad?
