Robin Gibb: Another star of the music scene passes away
Unforgettable hits
Along with his three brothers Barry, Andy, and Maurice, Robin Gibb shaped popular music in the 1960s and 1970s with unforgettable hits like "Staying Alive," "Night Fever," and "How Deep Is Your Love." The band sold over 200 million records during their heyday and beyond. The album "Saturday Night Fever," the soundtrack to the film of the same name, remains the best-selling British album of all time. He remains one of the most important singer-songwriters of his generation.
A hereditary congenital problem
Robin's twin brother, Maurice, died of a genetic bowel defect at the age of 53. On that occasion, Robin underwent a series of tests that revealed the same problem, which worsened with colon and liver cancer.
After several months of treatment, the British star had declared that he believed his cancer was in remission. Unfortunately, shortly after, his health deteriorated again. Last month, he was too weak to participate in the official launch of his first classical work, "The Titanic Requiem," which he composed with his son Robin-John Gibb, to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the famous ocean liner.
