Swiss Interbank Clearing SA (SIC SA) met tout en oeuvre pour obtenir un calcul correct de l’IBAN. SIC SA ne peut toutefois donner de garantie en matière de précision et d’intégralité du calcul ou de l’existance d’un numéro de compte bancaire donné. Des interruptions d’exploitation, etc., ne peuvent être exclues. Le calcul a par conséquent lieu sous votre propre responsabilité.

Définition de l’IBAN

International Bank Account Number. Afin de rationaliser les opérations de paiement transfrontalières, l’ISO (International Organization for Standardization) et l’ECBS (European Committee for Banking Standards) ont créé l’IBAN. Son utilisation pour les numéros de compte traditionnels facilite la saisie, la transmission et le traitement des données de paiement dans l’espace européen.

How is an IBAN constructed in Switzerland?

A IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an international bank identifier that ensures that transfers are routed without errors. In Switzerland, the IBAN is made up of 21 characters.

Structure of a Swiss IBAN:

CHkk BBBB CCCC CCCC CCCC C

• CH → the country code (Switzerland = CH for Confoederatio Helvetica)
• kk → 2-digit control key (calculated automatically to validate the IBAN)
• BBBB → bank clearing number (unique identifier assigned by SIX Interbank Clearing)
• CCCC CCCC CCCC C → customer-specific account number (length varies depending on the bank, but supplemented with zeros if necessary)

Concrete example:

CH93 0076 2011 6238 5295 7

• CH = Switzerland
• 93 = control key
• 00762 = bank clearing code (Banque Cantonale de Genève in this example)
• 011623852957 = customer account number

Swiss peculiarity

• All IBANs begin with CH.
• The length is always 21 characters (unlike other countries which have 22, 26 or 34).
• THE clearing number is integrated directly into the IBAN, which allows the SIC system to identify the bank quickly.
