Apple: iPad Technical Specifications

the iPad is the official name of Apple's new tablet... and not the iSlate as expected. The long-awaited presentation took place this evening in San Francisco (Apple Conference on January 27). The iPad... the good news is that the device is an interesting size (25 cm by 19 cm, 1.2 cm thick).

iPad technical specifications

• WiFi 802.11n
• Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
• 16, 32 or 64 GB memory
• Power: Apple A4 1 GHz
• 9.7-inch IPS multi-touch screen (close to A4 size, 25 cm diagonal)
• 1024×768 resolution (132 pixels per inch, ppi)
• Operating time: 10 hours (1 month standby)
• Thickness of 1.2 cm
• Weight 0.68kg
• Port: Docking, USB, mini jack for microphone and earphone, SIM card for Wi-Fi + 3G models
• Other version with Wifi + 3G (mobile telephony, unlike the iPhone it won't be blocked!)
• Price 499$

Something the iPad doesn't offer:

• No SD card reader (a shame, given the limited memory (64 GB max))
• No webcam
• No Ethernet socket (Wi-Fi was deemed sufficient)

The device is currently aimed more at gamers and geeks, but it will certainly become more and more popular and necessary for Swiss users.

The price has not yet been officially announced... it will be announced on this page when the official details are published.

At 8:19 p.m. the price fell to 499$, or just over 500 Swiss francs.

The iPad will be available from March/April in the USA and apparently from June in Europe...

Wi-Fi only iPad. Models will be available in early April 2010 (in the US at least):
